In 2024 D.L. King & Associates completed renovations to the Manchester Housing and Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) vestibule to improve the space functionality and security for the employees. This duel function lobby served as the entrance for the Governor Hugh Gallen Building
apartments and the offices of the MHRA. Access to both buildings was maintained throughout the construction process.
The reception area was revamped with bullet resistance glass windows featuring a natural voice speak through system and the surrounding walls were constructed using bullet resistant panels offering safety from all sides. The area was expanded and equipped with more storage improving work flow and organization for the employees.
Access card sensors were installed at all points into the neighboring buildings to allow authorized staff and residents ease of entrance and included a buzzer entrance system completely controlled from the front desk ensuring people could only enter the areas with the consent of the attendants.
The photos below show the alterations made to the exterior of the building. The old store front system and metal roof were replaced with a rubber roof, aluminum wood look siding, and stone vaneer to give a more modern look.
